Advancing Sustainability Education

Hello Everyone! I’m grateful to be invited to this uplifting network!

I am currently an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Sustainable Business at the University of Prince Edward Island – Cairo Campus, which is a Canadian university with an international branch campus located in Cairo, Egypt. I am Egyptian/Canadian and grew up between three continents. I believe in the power of plurality of thought, diversity, empathy, and having a growth mindset.

Prior to working in academia, I worked in marketing agencies for six years. During the last three of those years, I co-founded a marketing agency and consulting firm with three partners. However, I eventually found that this work was not fulfilling or aligning with my values. That’s when I decided to pursue a PhD in sustainable business strategy and marketing, focusing on how sustainability emerged and evolved in Egyptian companies up to 2020.

My current research interests include integrating sustainability into business students’ worldviews through experiential learning, challenging social stigmas against vulnerable populations (specifically children at risk or in street situations), and decolonizing higher education. I work closely with several foundations in Egypt to integrate social work into my business courses. I teach the following courses: Sustainable Business, Integrated Cases in Marketing, International Marketing, and Strategic Management.
