Advancing Sustainability Education

Hello colleagues around the world!

Great to be connected with this ‘tribe’ of specialists focusing on one goal, which is bringing Regenerative Education alive through all efforts in different areas. I have been focusing on this area of education since 10 years ago, when I moved from Holland to Bali to work at Green School as Director of Learning and later on Teacher Development and Wellbeing Manager. Green School is a pioneer place in the world focusing on nature as our first teacher around and inside ourselves.

For 5 years I trained many educators from around the world who came to learn about Education for Sustainable Development at Green School through an educational retreat called the ‘Green Educator Course’. From the real jungle we moved to the concrete jungle, the city Hanoi in Vietnam, to help develop a new school with a focus on Sustainability. At the same time I started to develop the social enterprise ‘Mother Jungle’ as I saw the Indigenous wisdom in Indonesia and Vietnam as being very important to integrate in education. I documented films in cooperation with Indigenous elders to bring this knowledge to a broader platform on filmfestivals and conferences.

At this moment I’m bringing back the ideas and knowledge to The Netherlands where I work at the University of Applied Sciences as a Lecturer/Coach of International Business and as a member of the ‘Sustainable International Business’ research center and lecturer/coordinator of the minor ‘Global Social Enterprise’. I work as a co-facilitator at the ‘Earth Charter’ to train educators and young people online about Education for Sustainable Development. I also designed the online program for Dutch Educators ‘Educate to Regenerate’ which will start in November under the wings of the ‘Educator Changemaker Academy’ based on the permaculture principles and biomimicry concepts. My passion and drive focus on designing education to make a positive impact in the real world.

I’m very much interested to learn more about all your initiatives and especially the vision of the ‘Two-Eyed Seeing’, which connects a lot with my focus on bridging our Western vision with Indigenous wisdom. I can’t wait to continue this journey and inspire and learn together as a global tribe!
