By embedding sustainability, environmental awareness, and community engagement into early childhood education, we can cultivate a strong sense of care and responsibility for the planet in young learners. This approach, known as Early Childhood Education for Sustainability (ECEfS), emphasizes experiential learning, critical thinking, and the development of a growth mindset. I believe it is essential that education for sustainability and regeneration be central to curriculum design at every level of schooling.
Hi Everyone!
My name is Bev Williams, and I live in the beautiful Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, Canada. I currently serve as part-time faculty in the B.Ed. program at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS. Over the course of my career, I have worked as a teacher, school administrator, consultant, workshop organizer and presenter, Science curriculum author, and contributor to science education publications. I have developed curricula for both public school systems and accredited post-secondary programs, and I continue to teach courses on advanced curriculum practices at the university level.
I am deeply passionate about nurturing a sense of wonder in learners and helping them develop a deep appreciation for the natural world. This passion is closely tied to my commitment to advancing awareness and responsibility around the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. I strongly believe that regenerative practices must begin in early childhood, and I have expanded my teaching to include pre-service educators at the early childhood level in addition to Elementary and Secondary levels.
